Oh gosh. This is getting serious. In less than 6 months our live will have changed completely. No, I am not expecting a baby. We are relocating to Bangalore, India.
My company is supporting my idea to strengthen the collaboration between the German and Indian entity by sending me, Stephanie, as an Expat for one and a half years to India together with my
husband Martin.
In Germany, I am already leading an intercultural team, with many colleagues in Europe and India. For this job, I do not have to work from Munich. So I will not switch the job, but “only” the location I am working from.
For sure, there will be also some new tasks in regards to the collaboration but in general, I know my team and my job. Also I have been traveling to Bangalore twice already and somehow got
already an idea of the country and culture. This brings a lot of security and safety for me.
Martin is the brave one in this game. He has not been to India before, only knows the country from what I told him and – what is worse - from the things you expect when thinking about India. When
he thinks about India, first things coming to his mind are garbage, spicy food, beautiful colours, people crowds, poverty and stomach issues. Isn’t he brave to overcome his prejudices and taking
this adventure with me?
We are now starting to think how our live will look like. Where would we live, what would we take with us from Germany? Where and how could Martin find work in Bangalore? How do we do with the social insurances?
All these questions we’ll have to solve over the next couple of weeks – it is only four and a half months to go.
The decision has been made, we are going abroad. The next step is an actual trip to India. Join us in our Go&See trip to experience live in Bangalore for the first time.
